PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND KEY ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

Purpose
The Da Vinci Institute of Technology Management provides a structured management development programme that has creditworthy components that could lead towards a Diploma (NQF 6) in the Management of Technology and Innovation (potentially 60 credits).

Objectives
The Diploma programme is specifically designed to enable members of an organisation, whose career path has not necessarily included gaining formal qualifications, to realise their true potential by:

• Developing them to manage or contribute to multi-discipline teamwork aimed at business improvement and socio-economic transformation
• Emphasising the implementation of technology innovations and people development practices to improve the business performance of organisations.

Brief Module Synopses

Managing the Systems Way integrates years of experience and learning about holism and synergy into an applied process that leads to a deeper understanding of holistic approaches to working within organisations. Going beyond systems thinking, this approach guides the student to synergy when managing in an organisational context. At the diploma level, multiple systems also need to be integrated as well as applications in problem-solving.

Financial Analysis and Control (including budgets) – at diploma level starts the financial statement and budget analysis process whereby the student needs to be able to identify, analyse and use the key operational numbers. Specific emphasis is placed on project finance and cost engineering within a project environment.

Project Management develops the key elements behind the implementation of projects in a total systems way. This is enhanced by comparative analyses and multiple methods. Project management tools are introduced and students are able to design resource allocation strategies.

Integrated Logistics Management – understanding and integrating the logistics of projects is a key determinant of project success. This module establishes the value of this integration and provides tools and techniques for sound project value chain management. This incorporates key quality, procurement and negotiation dynamics as integral characteristics of successful projects.

Key Account Management establishes a means of stratifying customers into value adding categories and provides some basic tools for getting the best benefit out of focus on the profitability. This is extended with international analyses, portfolio approaches and ranking strategies.

Customer Services Management establishes a compelling reason why customer service is the primary goal for the organisation. This module establishes the key differences between customer relationship management and customer experience principles. The module then develops plans and techniques for improving and measuring the development of superior customer service standards.
